In 1925, The university was founded in Beijing, Mainland China as the "Fu Ren Society affiliated to Beijing Catholic University". It was later renamed as "Fu Ren Catholic University", referring to the Analects of Confucius. Together with Peking University, Tsinghua University and Yanjing University, It has long been regarded as one of the four famous universities in Peiping and is well known in the higher education circle of the Republic of China. In 1952, it was abolished in the course of the adjustment of Chinese universities.
